The Healthy Homes Standards require that all kitchens and bathrooms must have an extractor fan vented to the outside.
- Kitchens – In any room with a cooktop, new fans or rangehoods installed after 1 July 2019 must have a minimum diameter (including ducting) of 150mm or an exhaust capacity of at least 50 litres per second.
- Bathrooms – In any room with a shower or bath, new fans installed after 1 July 2019 must have a minimum diameter (including ducting) of 120mm or an exhaust capacity of at least 25 litres per second.
HVAC NZ supply and install a range of extractor fans to meet HHS compliance
Inline Ceiling Fan
HVAC NZ supply and install – 150mm Inline Ceiling-mounted fans – to meet and exceed the compliance requirements for HHS
An inline ceiling fan is installed remotely within the duct (in the ceiling space) with just the grill on the internal and external walls. This drastically reduces the noise level and these types of fans are quieter and hence the preferred choice especially in bathrooms. They also tend to be a bit more powerful than a direct wall/ceiling fan – hence providing better extraction results.
Direct Wall Fan
HVAC NZ supply and install – 150mm Direct wall fans – to meet and exceed the compliance requirements for HHS
These fans are designed to be ducted straight through an exterior wall and are efficient and easy to install.
They are also favourable in damp areas and are suitable for situations where the bathroom is on an external wall, or there is insufficient ceiling space for an inline fan.
Rangehood
HVAC NZ supply and install – 600mm Canopy style Stainless steel rangehoods – to meet and exceed the compliance requirements for HHS
Rangehoods are the first choice in a kitchen – if trapping grease is a consideration.
If there is no space (or it is technically not possible) for a rangehood to be installed, alternative options will be provided to comply with HHS
Window Fan
HVAC NZ supply and install – 150mm Window fans – to meet and exceed the compliance requirements for HHS
Designed for use in damp areas where there is no external wall space available. These are a last resort option when a wall fan or an inline ceiling fan cannot be installed. This is because they can get a bit more expensive due to the cost of a specialist glass cutter.
